Both have the t mod (transfer function) but it isn't a TUBE mod.

The M-1.5t was transfer function matched to a solid state amplifier, the M-4.0t was transfer function matched to the Carver silver 7 TUBE amplifier.
Enjoy!

Rich,  I see.  They each were t mod-ed to sound like a specific competitor or other carver amp.

The best sounding is in the listeners opinion, since they have the same basic power amp specs?

If these two amps were not t-modded, do you think that they would sound essentially the same?

Don't mind the spec sheet's 200WPC into 8W rating; this model was under-rated and will easily do 360WPC into 8W
Enjoy!

Rich,  the M 1.0t can actually output 360 pc due to the high headroom reserves?

As I get older, I find that I prefer the brightness of the SS amps, as my ears are tubifying (rolling off) the upper end
It should sound like it isn't there.
There is a difference between hearing and listening...
